If you like truffles, fall is the best time of the year for you to visit the town of Alba, world capital of white truffles since Julius Caesar’s time and location of the most famous White Truffle Fair which take place every year between October and November (more news about the fair here).
Here the lovely vineyard hills of the Langhe region begin. Some of the greatest wines in Italy are produced in this area, heartland of the Barolo, the king of Italian red wines and the most celebrated Piedmont red, together with Barbaresco. My advice? Spend more than one day on a tour of wine tasting in the small towns of Barbaresco, Serralunga d’Alba, Barolo, La Morra and Bra (where the Slow Food Movement begun).
